Samspill concerned about NRK’s music programming

Samspill has sent a letter to the Broadcasting Council expressing strong concern over NRK’s announced cuts in its music programming.

Samspill International Music Network has submitted a letter to the Broadcasting Council voicing our deep concern about NRK’s planned reductions in music programming. These changes mean that several programs and concerts will disappear, and important parts of Norwegian music life risk losing their place on the public broadcaster’s platforms.

In the letter, we emphasize that NRK has a particular public service responsibility, which includes reflecting the full breadth of musical life – also genres such as classical, jazz, traditional music, contemporary music, choirs, bands, and ensembles. We urge the Broadcasting Council to address the matter and point out that musical diversity must not be sacrificed in favor of narrower, commercially attractive formats.
