Skattekista is Samspill's family festival for children aged 0 to 12. This year the festival took place at two venues in Oslo: Riksscenen at Schous on Sunday 23 August and Rommen Scene in Groruddalen on Saturday 5 September. Around 400 people came to Schous and around 800 to Rommen, and the sun was out on both days.
Rommen, 5 September
The day started with the opening show in front of Rommen Scene. More than a hundred children from the school choirs at Høybråten, Stovner and Rødtvet were on stage together with pupils from Oslo musikk- og kulturskole and dancers from Norsk tamilsk kultursenter. They had rehearsed for several weeks through Kor OPP! and Dans OPP!.
Inside Rommen Scene there were three performances: Bhangra with Indian Rhythms, Tango Corazón and Calabash Tales. Outside, Khalid Laaouaam and Othmane Hmimar played gnawa, and there was Tamil folk dance, circus play, Mexican masks and wish flags. Local organisations had set up their own parlours with activities and culture from Somalia, Pakistan, China, Morocco and Sri Lanka, among others. Pupils from Rommen skole showed art they have made with artist Tanja Olsen in Kunst OPP!.
Nyam Catering served Jamaican food. Catering students from Praksisbrev at Oslo voksenopplæring cooked and sold food.
The festival at Rommen is part of Kultur OPP! in Groruddalen. The project aims to strengthen the cultural offer for children and young people in Groruddalen before and after the festival day. Kulturtanken visited Rommen and has written an article about the day.
Schous, 23 August
At Riksscenen, Adrian Lara, Khalid Laaouaam and Othmane Hmimar, Bellali Austria, Magnhild Garnås Haugen and Jon Bugge Mariussen took part in the opening show. The three performances Bhangra, Tango Corazón and Calabash Tales were staged indoors. Outside there were Mexican masks and a soap bubble machine from the Institute of Design at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, among other things.
