Patrick vedlog

Patrick Vedlog is a Bansuri player from Oslo, Norway who began his Indian classical venture in the summer of 2014. Already interested in eastern music such as Chinese and Mongolian, he was showed a performance by Ustad Zakir Hussain and Rakesh Chaurasia. The duo was so mesmerizing that Patrick immediately wanted to learn. Having already experimented with a Chinese Dizi flute, Patrick received his flute, a small bansuri and started learning.

At the age of 10 he played drums in a marching band and experimented with drums and bass guitar in a band with friends. In 2014 Patrick met with bansuriplayer, student of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Tal Coleman. Tal instructed Patrick in the beginning and helped to establish the foundation of his fingering techniques. After 2015 Patrick went his own way to discover his own style. His inspirations are the great Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Rajendra Prasanna, Pt. Rakesh Chaurasia, Deepak Ram, Pt. Ronu Majumdar, Pt. Pravin Godkhini and Pt. Nityanand Haldipur.

In 2017 Patrick met Tablaplayer Tarak Dutta and had his first public performance in the late summer of 2017 at the ERA Festival in Oslo. During the time 2017-2019 Patrick and Tarak performed as a duo.

In 2018 Patrick came to meet the Guru of Tarak Dutta, namely Pt. Nabankur Bhattacharya, senior disciple of Pt. Anindo Chatterjee. Patrick began learning Tabla and accompaniment from him since then.

In May of 2018, Patrick visited Rotterdam and by the help of sitarplayer Rohini Sahajpal got the opportunity to meet Guru Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and joined a workshop by the Maestro.

Patrick went to India in 2019. During the summer Patrick joined Tarak Dutta to his hometown near Kolkata. In Kolkata Patrick received training from flute teacher Guru Ashok Kumar Karmakar.

Patrick also has students who he now teaches, both in Oslo and Online.
