How to build a budget that balances, stays flexible, and inspires confidence from organisers and funders.
In short
- 1 A budget shows what the project costs, what income you need, and that the totals balance out.
- 2 Use a spreadsheet (Excel or Google Sheets) so you can use formulas and adjust numbers easily.
- 3 Structure every line in four columns: description, amount, quantity, total.
- 4 Start with expenses, then income. The balance should be zero or positive.
- 5 Use real numbers. Show your calculations. Note the source and status of each line.
